Hidden video leads to arrest of house cleaner

On February 10, 2012, Investigators of the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office conducted a covert investigation into allegations related to a series of thefts from homes that may have involved an employee of a house cleaning service. Five victims had reported thefts of cash and jewelry after using the same house cleaning service prior to the Sheriff’s Office operation being initiated.
Sheriff’s Investigators installed hidden cameras inside the home of a victim that was scheduled for cleaning services. Several pieces of marked jewelry were placed inside the home and a surveillance team was positioned nearby. On February 10, 2012, at approximately 7:30 A.M., a female suspect was observed arriving at a residence to conduct cleaning responsibilities. She remained in the home for five hours. At about 12:30 P.M., the lone female suspect exited the home and was immediately contacted for a minor traffic violation.

The female suspect is identified as 23-year-old Liliana Calzadillas-Gonzalez.

Upon viewing the digital images captured on the hidden cameras, Investigators determined that a theft of jewelry had occurred and Gonzalez was responsible for the criminal behavior. Several items of jewelry were found inside Gonzalez’s vehicle, including a piece of jewelry marked by Investigators, and jewelry that was later identified as belonging to the victimized homeowner. Gonzalez was taken into custody without incident. She is being held at the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Detentions Facility on a $6,000 bond. Gonzalez will be charged with violations of:

C.R.S. 18-4-401 - Theft, a Class Four Felony. A class four felony is punishable, upon conviction, by a fine from $2,000 to $500,000, and/or imprisonment in the Colorado Department of Corrections from two to eight years, with a mandatory three-year parole.

In addition, she was charged with the following traffic violations: no turn signal/improper signal given; no proof of insurance; and driving without a valid driver’s license.
Anyone who may have also been victimized in a similar manner is requested to contact Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division at 720.874.4057.
For additional information contact Sheriff Grayson Robinson at 720.874.4165.
